Experts in Residence
Local experts providing practical advice to local businesses
Business and IP Centre North East’s Experts in Residence offer businesses the opportunity to meet online to discuss a wide range of business topics, ranging from finance and funding, marketing and communication, intellectual property and law and many more. Our Experts are, in the main, small businesses themselves and are not paid to provide this service so meetings are limited to one only online appointment per Expert. Duration of the meeting can be 30 minutes, up to an hour, at the Experts discretion. Please, note:
- Pre-start customers can only access to start-up advice and support from Experts listed in the ‘Start-Up Support’ Experts category and also our Innovation Expert Roger Tipple.
- To access other Experts in Residence appointments you must be a businesses currently trading in the north-east and registered with either Companies House or as self-employed with HMRC.
- Think carefully about the Expert who you feel is best places to help you. If you book an appointment with an Expert, please, ensure that you attend or ask your Expert to reschedule if you can’t make it. Unfortunately, we do experience a high number of ‘no shows’, wasting our Experts’ time and often preventing other customers from accessing an earlier appointment.

Businesses operating within some of the areas we cover can also access up to 12 additional hours of free support from our Experts by applying through our Citylife Business Support Scheme.
