Ian can advise both growing and start-up businesses and has worked extensively with businesses in the rural economy. He was an early adopter of carbon neutrality and zero waste practices and possesses a broad range of business experience with sustainable and green business practices being at the heart of everything he does.

Background
Ian has spent several decades in the private, public and third sectors. He is an adviser to national organisations on green business transformations and is Chairman of the Northeast committee for Forestry Commission/Forestry England and involved in natural capital accounting and sustainability through his directorship of Capability Northeast Ltd (CNE) – See www.genee.org.uk. CNE is based in the offices of Ouseburn Farm Charity Ltd, a city farm in the very heart of Newcastle. He is also a trustee of the Charity which has an orchard suitable for agroforestry. www.ouseburnfarm.org.uk

Ian lives in North Northumberland, 50km north of Newcastle and just south of Scotland looking over the North Sea. He was educated in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship at Edinburgh and Durham Universities and has undertaken several self-development courses as well as being a part- qualified chartered surveyor.
