A new BIPC Local has opened in Sunderland
BIPC is the Business and Intellectual Property Centre which, in conjunction with the British Library provides an invaluable source of free information and advice for inventors, start-up businesses, and existing businesses in the North East with collections of hard-copy materials and a broad range of business databases including COBRA, GRANTfinder and Mintel to access company statistics, delve into the latest market trends and consumer behaviours and find out about the latest funding opportunities to develop new products and services and explore new markets.
Sunderland Libraries Services will provide an extension of the regional service in Newcastle, providing access to BIPC sources and will be accessible within the Local History Library @ETR in Fawcett Street, Sunderland from Wednesday, 7 July, 2021.
All public libraries will have BIPC branding and customers and residents can approach staff at Washington Town Centre, Houghton and City Library for an initial enquiry and signposting or make an appointment for a more detailed consultation at the Local History Library @ETR.
Cllr Linda Williams, Cabinet member for Vibrancy, said “Sunderland Libraries Services already provide an extensive range of information and support by highly trained and skilled staff and by opening a Business and Intellectual Property Centre within Sunderland provides an additional element not previously readily available to local business or aspiring inventors.”
John Musham, BIPC Manager, comments “We are delighted to be working with Sunderland Libraries to deliver our Business & Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC) services to local businesses and aspiring new start-ups. The new BIPC Local will provide residents and businesses with convenient free access to our trained staff, new online marketing research & business information resources as well as access to the BIPC’s team of friendly & knowledgeable Experts in Residence who come from a variety of market sectors and are on hand to offer 1-2-1 advice sessions to discuss a wide range of topics including legal, finance, marketing, HR and much more.”
